EDUCATION TIES REQUIREMENTS FOR REQUESTING A RESIDENT’S PERMIT
To obtain a Resident’s Permit based on education ties, you will be required to:
Provide proof of continuous stay in Spain for a minimum of two years (through the census registration documents, medical certificates, public notary documents, bank statements, receipts of money transfers to country of origin…).
To have no criminal record in Spain or in country of origin.
- To commit to carrying out a recognised education course
- for employment or to obtain a professional or vocational training qualification conducive to being awarded a qualification in a technical skill or the recognition of a professional qualification necessary to carry out a specific occupation or one promoted by the Public Employment Services.
- or within the area of the universities’ continuous education remit, commit to taking a course that broadens or updates educational or professional competences and abilities as well as other courses that pertain to the continuous education remit.
The applicant should provide proof of said enrolment within a time period of three months from the notification of the granting of the permit.
In this way, a provisional permit can be granted for a period of 12 months, which can be prolonged only once for the same period if the course is longer than 12 months or exceeds the duration for which the first permit was granted.
Once training is completed and during the validity of the residence permit, the person concerned can make an application for a work and residence permit, at the Foreign Nationals Office along with an employment contract that guarantees at least the national minimum wage as well as a certificate stating that the course has been completed. In these cases, a 2 year work permit will be granted.
